North Quarter Overview

Santos Place is located within the heart of the emerging North Quarter precinct within Brisbane's CBD. North Quarter is the first public-private urban renewal project of its kind in Queensland. The precinct is to be home to the largest amount of private development and public infrastructure spending focused within one precinct over the coming five years. With over $2 billion of private and public funding already committed within the precinct and with additional local and state Government infrastructure spending rolling out over the next two years, the precinct will witness a transformation on a scale not previously witnessed within one area of Brisbane's CBD. North Quarter is set to become the most integrated and easily accessible CBD precinct in Brisbane.

The North Quarter precinct has recently seen the completion of the New Magistrates Court building and the refurbishment of the iconic McDonnell and East building. Other privately funded projects under construction in the precinct include Evolution, a new residential tower, a handful of commercial office refurbishments and the addition of further new commercial office towers. Construction is also due to be completed in 2007 on the new CBD underground bus tunnel linking the northern busway with the Queen Street Mall.

Additional committed public infrastructure projects due to commence construction shortly include the pedestrian causeway linking George Street with the Roma Street Transit Centre and Suncorp Stadium, the streetscaping and beautification of 'Queensland Place' encompassing Roma Street, George Street, Tank Street and Turbot Street and, the construction of the Tank Street Pedestrian Bridge.

Santos Place offers a state-of-the art working environment which takes into consideration the importance of attracting and retaining staff which is closely linked to not only the internal environs of a building but the surrounding recreational and supporting infrastructure considered critical in creating an attractive, modern-day working environment. Northbridge's location in the heart of the North Quarter precinct is within easy walking distance of the Roma Street Parklands, the Queen Street Mall, Southbank, the Queensland Cultural Centre, Performing Arts Centre and Museum, the new Gallery of Modern Art, Suncorp Stadium and the Caxton Street Entertainment precinct. Santos Place is only 200m to the major transport hub, Roma Street Transit Centre which is about to undergo an extensive upgrade and refurbishment.

Workers within the precinct will have access to a vast array of recreation, shopping, transport and support services unmatched anywhere else within Brisbane's CBD.
